December: andrew.

Note: the following are thoughts four months later...

The Veils - Nux Vomica
One of may favorite downloads of the year. there is screaming without being un-listenable, lots of strings without being sappy. strong lyrics, great voice, great variety. christmas came early. go aucklanders!

The Avett Brothers - Emotionalism
I've gone back and forth on this. "love writes a letter to hate" is pretty worthless, and the album is much more stripped down than i was expecting. but i had most of the record memorized by the third listen, which makes it a comfortable record to put on when looking for something familiar. this is a 33-33-33 record. 33% really good, 33% tolerable and 33% skipable.

Gore Gore Girls

it's free. and i still haven't listened to it.

Yeasayer - 2080/Sunrise
two song EP, both of which are identical to All Hour Cymbals, which is a great record. saw them in concert, but was too drunk to remember most of it. hey, it was valentines day alright!

Andrew Bird -
Song of America
a traditional song from a new comp, produced by none other than janet reno. yes that janet reno, of boxing fame.

Dosh - The Lost Take
MPLS drummer for Andrew Bird/ multi-instrumentalist. feat members of Fog, Happy Apple and Mr. Bird. Martin Dosh's most comprehensive and accessible album to date.
